“We shouldn’t bemoan the power of big money if we’re not willing to utilize the power of small money.”

Jeff Taylor penned this statement in an article about our campaign and some other independent-thinking campaigns. The statement rings so true, though.

While the returns from the primary were positively surprising, we now face a tough battle ahead. My opponent will have unlimited resources at his disposal. In fact, he has already started typical politician attacks against me four months before the election. We are encouraged by this though; his actions reveal he is worried already with our campaign.

Across party lines and differing age and ethnic groups, our message has
certainly resonated. Our people have yearned for a new vision for Alabama. T.S. Eliot wrote once: “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice.” I believe I can be the voice for new speech in Montgomery; I can return words like public justice, common good, and stewardship to our political conversation.
